TNUA President Prof. Yang Chyi Wen, as chairman of the Asian League of Institutes of the Arts (ALIA), attended the ALIA International Symposium 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March.

Three other TNUA administrators also attended the three-day symposium from March 25 to 27: Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. Liu Hsi-Chuan; Dean of Research and Development Prof. Shaw-Ren Lin and Chief Director of International Exchange Center Prof. ChiFang Chao.

The symposium, organized by Malaysia's National Academy of arts, Culture and Heritage (ASWARA), saw discussions among representatives from ALIA members, as well as from the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) and art industry.

The theme of the event was “Ocean of Colors,” which looked to establish closer partnerships among the ALIA members, transcending race, culture and religion. The symposium had four major topics for discussions: “Human Capital: The Exchange of Scholars, Staff, Lecturers and Students Between Institutions”; “Culture: Art and Peace”; ALIA as a Unifying Platform: Mechanism Proposed for Quality Assurance”; and “Preservation of Traditional Arts in Asia.”

In his address to the opening ceremony, Prof. Yang noted that Last December, ALIA convened a Board Meeting to discuss various issues, such as exchange plans among ALIA members, collaboration with ELIA, promotion of arts and peace, and upcoming ALIA events.

Prof. Yang disclosed that ALIA will have its Board Meeting at the Mongolia State University of Arts and Culture this July. It will hold its General Assembly and a joint meeting with ELIA Boards at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in October.

On March 26, ASWARA adopted
